Waiting now for a Macon Gunstock Walnut Stock and the Leupold 2x7-28 Pistol Scope.

That worked.

This worked for me, just replace the (&) with [&]

How many times I wish I still had my two XP-100s. I ran across them at the same time at a gun dealer in a mall in South Texas (Corpus Christi) where I lived in the 90s. They had a just received one in .308 WIN and had another one in .221 FIREBALL. I couldn't pass up either one, so I bought both of them. People at the ranges always came over to view them every time I was out with them. It seemed the 'target of the day' was always conversation about them. I would still be enjoying them today if my (soon to be at the time) X-wife hadn't had a pre-divorce sale with them and a shop full of tools, engines, offshore boating & fishing gear while I was out of town for a seminar. Might be a good thing she sold the XP-100s because when I walked into my shop and discovered my fresh 426 HEMI among all the other things missing, I might have used one of them on her. Just kidding about that part, but I was P-O'd to say the least. It sure sealed the deal about the divorce though. The .221 FIREBALL sure was a sweet & tame shooter though... Very enjoyable shooting both of them. Right about the time Remington introduced the .260 REM cartridge, I started drooling for an XP-100 chambered in .260, but they discontinued the XP in 1994. Damn the luck!!! At any rate though, when that .221 REM FIREBALL in 45 grains exited that short barrel at 3200 fps, it broke the silence with that distinctive sharp "CRACK" like a big tree branch snapping. Everyone knew it wasn't the "crack" of a .223. It became my "exit signature" at the range because I never went to the range without shooting a few rounds after my other guns were put away before leaving.

Sounds like we have some things in common. This is my 3rd XP-100 and once I shoot the barrel out, it will get a new one in maybe 20 VarGet, 22 BR or something else very accurate. Also had a Baldwin Motion 426 Competition Hemi in a 1968 Road Runner. Right now I will settle for playing with it in 221 Fireball.

There seem to be lots of FIREBALL XPs still available in quite good condition for about 700 & up. Of course there'd be more of them since the .221 had the longest production run of them all, about 22 years. I'm kinda charmed by the 22-250 and the 7mm-08. If I had the gunsmith I once knew, I'd have him machine a barrel to .260 Remington to fit an XP-100.
My Hemi was a 'crate' from Keith Black '69 GTX. I did manage to wear out one of my Ford 427 engines. One of those 2 was a Holman-Moody build.

Yep, quite a few XP-100s for sale on the web. See them from about $700.00 as you said up to about $900.00 depending on condition and what they come with. With scopes, have seen them up to bout $1,100.00. I sold the last one I had in 1995 for $350.00 if memory services me, with a shoulder holster, a set of dies and a box of factory ammo. I want to stay with one of the accurate, but lower recoil cartridges when I re-barrel. Have a new wood stock coming from Macon Gunstocks.

I liked building cars just like building guns. Have two Benchrest rifles currently being built and one 40X Build currently at the Remington Custom Shop.

I started out in 1967 with a Plymouth Barricuda Fastback with the "D" Dart engine. 273 / 275 HP. Then the Competition Hemi Road Runner in 1968.
1969 I bought a 430 CI Yanko Camaro. Sold that when I got married. Should have never sold that one when you look at what they are going for now. I bought it new from Burn's Brother's Chevrolet, who was making the market on them that year. Sold it for $3,850.00. If I had it today, it would be worth about $750,000.00.
1970 - Z28 with the LT-1 Motor 350/370 HP.

Today my Sunday ride is a 1967 Corvette Roadster, Matching Serial Number, frame off rebuild with original factory side pipes and the 427 / 435 HP that it came from the factory with.

Only one more on my list, always wanted a 1965 Goat. Either Engine, Hardtop or Convertible. Don't care which. Still watching for a good one.

I still have my XP-100 in 7mm IHMSA. Fantastic gun. I shot metallic silhouettes with it for a number of years. Shot flat and was a kick in the pants to shoot. Definitely a great hunting pistol. The case is just a bit shorter than a .308 if I recall. Had a few friends get whacked in the the face with it a few times.

One of the cool things about that gun is it works best for lefties! Even though it's a right handed rifle bolt action, you maintain grip with your left hand and work the bolt with you right hand. So nananananana to you righties!!!! It's about time us lefties aren't on the crap side of the equation.
