So what defensive ammo functions well in your R51?

I’ve had some issues with Hornady Critical Defense. Sometimes the round jumps out of the mag and hangs on the top of the barrel. I think maybe the nickel case is too slippery and slides forward in the mag as the round above it is stripped and fed. I might try brass cased SD ammo because regular FMJ ammo feeds fine. Or maybe the OAL is too short on the Hornady ammo.

As a follow up, Hornady American Gunner 115 grain XTP is working very well.

I’ll try a box of Remington UD. I would also like to try the new Remington Black Belt ammo too.

Try some Remington Golden Saber. I don't have an R51 but it functions well in all my 380's of a wide variety of vintages and makes.

I haven’t seen any Golden Saber unless it is all labeled as HTP now. I have seen UD though.

I have used both Hornady Critical Defense and Federal Hydra-Shok in mine with 100% success.
