I have done some searching and find this a hard question to answer. My 870 Wingmaster in 20 gauge does not have a gold trigger or gold engraving. Does this make it a less desirable model? Is the value lower than the wingmasters with the gold options? I'm not looking to sell, just hoping to know what it's worth. I've seen prices on GunBroker all over the spectrum. Were there more desirable years similar to pre 1964 Winchesters?

The gold triggers and/or the gold fill in the rollmarking were strictly for looks only. Functionally they are no better than a Wingmaster, and the condition of the gun is a much bigger factor in worth. Many people do not like the gold.

Ok. Thank you guys. I tried to contact Remington and as with many companies these days, could not get a person on the phone. This has just always puzzled me. Had one guy tell me it wasn't a true Wingmaster if it lacked the gold trigger, even though it has the name engraved in the receiver. Good to know that condition is more important. Mine is a fine specimen with good bluing and nice furniture for a gun that my Dad drug through the briars every year. I suppose that's a benefit of being 6ft.+. Thanks again.
