I stumbled across a really nice condition Remington 700 that I'm not sure what the model exactly is. Probably some limited run something or the other.

It's a Remington 700 in 308, it has a very nice blue satin finish, not matte, not polished blue like the "Classic" guns had. It has a blind (ADL style) magazine. It has a light contour barrel that is almost exactly like the barrel on my Model 7 in contour and length, the barrel is a similar contour to my Mountain Rifle except shorter, also the blind magazine precludes it from being a Mountain Rifle too, right? I'm guessing it's an 80s or 90s gun as it has the Walker trigger. It has a factory HS Precision stock with the Remington recoil pad. The rifle really reminds me of a Model 7 in look and feel.

Checked my Blue Book without satisfaction John. I am wondering if someone had this gun Restocked in the HS precision stock. The short contour barrel has me stumped. About a 20 inch barrel? Sounds like a nice rifle. Mine is a 700 ADL from 1984 with factory walnut and a satin finish on the wood. Wish I could be of more help.

Yeah, the fact the stock has a Remington recoil pad makes me believe that the stock is original to the gun.

Ya know Remington has gone through soooo many models of the 700's that were short-run or lasted only a few years. Call Remington customer service with your serial number and ask them. Let us know the result. I recall a Remington catalog of a few years ago with "light varmint" rifles that looked identical to the Model 7 and made me wonder why they had duplicative model ranges. I'm a big fan of the Model 7 myself.

I"ll say a lot of 700 model variants! Always used to grab the new catalogs back in 70s or 80s. Probably 10 pages long. Recall when the 700 BDL or ADL were the choices one could choose from. Somehow my old 700 with walnut and polished blue remains a true beauty in my eyes.

What a great deal I got.
The rifle is like brand new, Leupold base and rings, Nikon 2.5-10 Monarch with BDC reticle. $475 plus tax.

Sounds like a super deal for sure! That Nikon Monarch scope is a high end model for sure and worth money by itself. Great deals like this do not happen very often. A gun like that should sell for a lot more.

Got to shoot my Mountain Guide Rifle. It's a thumper in 308. Center hits out to 300 yards using the BDC reticle in the Nikon Monarch 2.5-10x44 and Nosler Custom 165gr Accubonds.

Good to hear your shootin it John. Yeah I figured it would give your shoulder a whack in 308. Great touch having that Nikon Monarch scope. Shot my 700 last week along with a friend that had a Ruger American with what looked like a bead blasted stainless barrel. Ugly as sin. Like comparing Beauty and the Beast. LOL
